Passionate Growers with Sustainability at Heart

For over 150 years, Bogawantalawa has cultivated teas in harmony with nature. True to our ethos,  we nurture the planet, empower people, and preserve prosperity for generations to come.

Adopting climate smart agriculture, renewable energy, plantation, conservation and social forestry, organic farming, usage of bio-fertilizer and  organic pesticides, carbon footprint and water management, sustainability and diverse soil development projects have seen us accomplish UNSDG 2030 status well in advance.

Our climate positive journey

We take pride in producing the world’s first uncompensated Climate Positive teas going beyond carbon neutrality by absorbing more carbon than we emit.

Our Carbon Footprint

We were successful in significantly reducing the GHG emission of the value chain through different initiatives such as energy management, eco designing, shifting to the latest technologies, work towards organic, integrated fertility management, shifting to green energy, waste management, optimizing the packaging, awareness, training, and rewarding. Bogawantalawa achieved Carbon Neutral Status in 2017 and Climate Positive Status in 2019.

Planet and Climate

Bogawantalawa Tea is committed to practices that restore the land, protect biodiversity, and strengthen resilience to climate change.

Renewable Energy and Net Zero Operations

Powered entirely by solar and hydro energy, Bogawantalawa operates at Net Zero Energy. We continue to explore additional renewable sources, including wind power, to further strengthen sustainability.

Regenerative and Climate - Smart Agriculture

We restore soil health, enhance biodiversity, and reduce environmental impact through:

  • Organic & biodynamic farming
  • Bio-fertilizer and microbial enrichment
  • Precision agriculture to optimize inputs
  • Reforestation — over 500,000 trees planted
  • Climate-smart soil and water management

Water Stewardship and Conservation

Efficient irrigation, rainwater harvesting, soil moisture monitoring, and drought-adapted crop strategies ensure optimal yields while preserving water resources.

Biodiversity and Reforestation

Through agroforestry, planting rainforest species, and promoting ecosystem health, we actively protect biodiversity while supporting sustainable tea cultivation.

People and Community

Powered entirely by solar and hydro energy, Bogawantalawa operates at Net Zero Energy. We continue to explore additional renewable sources, including wind power, to further strengthen sustainability.
